Talking to Daddy on the Phone

Matthew is away on business for a couple of weeks and here is what Addison does when she talks to Daddy on the phone...

First Trip to the White House, Girl-ify Addison's Room & Miscellaneous

White House: Addison made her first trip to the White House last weekend! We braved the metro and a few hours in D.C. without the stroller, only the Baby Bjourn! Addison loved walking around looking at all the sites; she was just taking it all in. I am happy to report- No tears and no sunburns! On the metro ride home, she noticed a retired couple looking at her and she sure turned on the charm! Addison has always been shy around the camera (including ALL her ultrasounds), but when someone is noticing her---she HAMS IT UP!
Girl-ify Addison's Room: Now that we do not have to have a completely gender neutral room, I finally added a girly TOUCH (just a touch since I am incapable of a total girly room and wouldn't even know where to BEGIN to create one!). Aunt Krista and I were busy being crafty this week. We created: wooden letters spelling Addison's name (green with pink polka dots and hanging with brown ribbon), brown with pink and green polka dot bow holders and a shadow box with Addison's going home outfit and hospital bracelet. I am very pleased with the results and glad Aunt Krista was here to help!



Miscellaneous Developments: Addison is really growing! On Tuesday, she weighed in at a whopping 12 pounds, I couldn't be more proud! Her personality is becoming even more evident everyday; laid back yet knows what she wants, when she wants it. She continues to be very contented and contented easily.

She does not seem interested in rolling over more than from her back to her side (which she has done since 2 weeks), but instead wants to stand up and/or hold her head up at EVERY opportunity. When you hold her she wants to be up on your shoulder with her head up looking around. In fact, she is following objects quite well now.

Aunt Kimberly gave her some crunchy paper and she likes it when you lay it on her tummy so she can squnich up to wrap her legs and and arms around it. Which I believe it what encouraged her to start kicking her toys. Before now, she just wacked at them!

She is talking more and more everyday and will really chat it up when Daddy is home! Although she is pretty active for all her wake times, she is REALLY active when Daddy is home.

Lastly, she is still doing beautifully with her 3 hour schedule. She sleeps from about 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM, but does wake up sometime between 4 AM and 7 AM to talk for a little while---it's cute :) Nap times go well and even when she does not sleep through the entire nap, she will lay there quietly with her eyes open and look around.

I am so glad she is so adaptable and doesn't mind being on the go, because we are constantly going somewhere! I love being at home with her and love being mommy to such a sweet girl!

Baby Bjorn, YAY!

THANKS MIA AND PAPA for the Baby Bjorn!! Since Addison was already in bed when we opened the Baby Bjorn, we used my teddy as a test subject (probably safer that way anyways). I have had this teddy since I was about 5 years old and it STILL comes in handy!! With our active lifestyle we will get a TON of use out of this; between the metro, walking, picnics, kite flying....and who knows what else it will be used!

Thanks again Mia and Papa (for those of you who don't know, that is my parents)---Love you AND your thoughtfulness! It was a fun surprise in the mail!

So many things, So little time

I feel like there are always so many things I want to share but then my blogs are TOO long...so I will let the pictures and captions speak for themselves!

The orange and pink roses were from Matthew for our Anniversary (May 9) and I wont the assortment flowers at church for being the youngest mom at church. Yeah that's right at the age of 27 I am the youngest mom...we aren't in the South anymore Todo.

This moment was enough of a Mother's Day present for me!


Addison's nap before going on our Anniversary outing. We went to the mall and walked around for exercise, bought L.C. (our niece) a birthday present, ate lunch and went to Costco to go "sampling". We ended our evening by enjoying Chinese takeout at home while watching a movie. It was, as usual, a day full of random fun....doing nothing :)

Let's Go Fly A Kite for Addison's One Month Birthday

I can hardly believe our Addison is one month old and my how she changes everyday! I cannot stop staring at her as she is making all her many discoveries and developments and I am so grateful I am able to experience these discoveries and developments with her each day. Matthew and I are incredibly blessed that I am able to stay at home with Addison for the time being. The circumstances starting from the timing we got married, to the timing of Matthew's new job/graduation from graduate school, to the timing of me resigning at my job in Birmingham---all of that created the perfect set of circumstances for me to stay at home. I have said it a million times in the past year, but God always has a perfect plan for ALL of us, we just have to trust him.

So, Addison is one month. What has she been up to the past month? Well....

• Personality: Her personality is starting to emerge. She is easy-going (credit to Matthew's genes), adaptable to new things/environments, easily contented, VERY determined and looks for any chance to flash a smile at you. She also enjoys her independent time (i.e. she likes to lay in her bed as she falls asleep for naps and look around and play for a while, she enjoys playing with her toys on her own and just looking around while she eats). I love the combination of easy-going and independence, I look forward to watching that develop further!
  
• Tummy time: has a whole new meaning now! She can push up on her hands and lift her head WAY up---and keep it stable!!! She is also trying SO hard to roll over when she is on her tummy. She can go from her back to her side, but not quite a full roll yet.
  
• Playing with toys: Another favorite activity is playing with her toys on her back. She could hit them before but now she can hit them quite precisely and she is even trying to kick them now.
• Talking: The newest development---TALKING! When we play with her, she makes the sweetest little talking noises and if you copy her, she will do them back at you!!! We have our own language now!
• Sleeping: She is sleeping longer through the night slowly but surely. She only wakes up ONCE between 10:30 PM and 8:00 AM. She takes great naps and falls asleep on her own.
• Size: Addison was able to skip the one month Doctor visit so she will not be weighed again until June, but I can tell you---she is getting big!!! What is interesting, is she is getting proportionally bigger instead of chubby. Maybe being exclusively breastfed causes this, but who really knows. I can't wait to see how much she weighs at her two month doc visit!
  

For her One Month celebration---we flew a kite in our "backyard"! Well, the kite did not do much flying, but it was fun trying!

I look forward to each day to see what new challenges, developments and fun awaits our growing family! God is so good!
